Qualifications
Over 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or Platform Engineering Proven expertise in designing, developing, and supporting scalable data pipelines Hands-on experience with Netezza is mandatory, including data warehouse management and migration Strong proficiency in SQL-based systems: SQL Server, Postgres, Teradata, Redshift Extensive experience with AWS cloud services: EMR, EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Redshift, AWS Glue, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, IAM Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow (or AWS Managed Workflows) and real-time data processing technologies such as Kafka and Spark Streaming Skilled in ETL/ELT process implementation using tools like SSIS, Pentaho, and scripting languages such as shell scripting and Python Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating environments Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimization skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field 10+ years of relevant experience in data platform engineering or related disciplines Hands-on experience with cloud migration projects, particularly on-premises to AWS transitions
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with Python programming
Knowledge of Data Warehouse solutions like Teradata Exposure to operating in enterprise-scale environments with cross-functional teams
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Big Data and AWS technologies Lead and support data platform migration initiatives, particularly from on-premises solutions like Netezza to cloud environments Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes utilizing tools such as SSIS, Pentaho, and scripting languages Implement and optimize data workflows and orchestration pipelines with Airflow Build and enhance data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes from diverse data sources Perform performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries for improved scalability Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high system reliability and uptime Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and infrastructure specialists, to deliver robust data solutions Work on real-time data streaming technologies such as Kafka and Spark Streaming to support live data processing
