This is a site-based role supporting a large-scale hospital project delivered in an ICI / P3 environment.

You as the Quality Manager will:

  • Lead and manage the quality program and quality team across one or multiple projects, ensuring an effective quality management system from preconstruction through project close-out.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Project Quality Management Plans (PQMPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Subcontractor Quality Plans (SQPs) in alignment with EllisDon standards and best practices.
  • Clearly define and communicate quality roles, responsibilities, objectives, and requirements to project teams, consultants, trade partners, and suppliers.
  • Review and interpret contracts, drawings, and specifications, providing clear and concise quality-related input and guidance.
  • Proactively identify quality risks and opportunities, implement QA/QC and mitigation strategies, and escalate major quality issues to Area Leadership and Corporate QA as required.
  • Coordinate and support quality control and assurance activities including inspections, testing, audits, mock-ups, deficiency management, and quality documentation.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier quality audits, inspections, and compliance to ensure effective execution of project quality plans.
  • Track, report, and manage non-conformances and deficiencies through to closure, including corrective and preventive actions and client/consultant walkthroughs.
  • Ensure all quality records are properly reviewed, maintained, and stored in accordance with project document control requirements.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external meetings, including Quality Team meetings, with agenda creation, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent EllisDon professionally while clearly communicating quality program requirements.
  • Support training, mentorship, and performance evaluation of project team members and junior quality staff.
  • Report on quality program effectiveness, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and support area- and company-wide quality best practices and lessons learned.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience, preferably in ICI environments, with a strong preference for healthcare (hospital) and/or P3 project experience.
  • Engineering or other construction-related degree, or equivalent experience.
  • P.Eng designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality plans on large/complex projects.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and relevant codes and standards related to construction (e.g., CSA A23.1).
  • Ability to champion and lead the effective implementation of operational best practices, project quality plans, risk management strategies, and quality assurance/control activities.
  • Experience leading or managing quality teams and working cross-functionally with project teams, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Proven experience managing non-conformances, subcontractor quality plans, audits, and corrective/preventive actions on large projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage priorities independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
