Salary Range: $27.56 - $34.45 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Days

Status: Temporary Full-Time (12-month contract)

Altum Health is currently seeking a PHYSIOTHERAPY/OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT to join our Oshawa and Ajax teams! As an integral member of Altum Health’s clinical team, the Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing support to the clinicians and clinical services/facilities, under the assignment and delegation of the regulated health care professionals.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Ensuring all clinical areas are safe, clean, maintained and stocked with appropriate supplies at all times

  • Supervising clients during their treatment activities under therapist supervision and ensuring clients perform prescribed activities in an appropriate and safe manner

  • Maintaining communication with supervising therapist regarding patient progress

  • Using modalities as prescribed by the physiotherapist/occupational therapist.

  • Providing administrative support as required which may include:

  • Maintaining accurate and timely data regarding tracking of clinical visits, maintaining therapist schedules, facilitating supply and small equipment purchases, performing data entry to capture clinical visits and activities, and other support activities

  • Performing cross-functional and/or other administrative duties as needed which will ensure that the program functions efficiently daily

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate program
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience
  • Ability to solve problems and seek guidance of supervising staff when appropriate
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with difficult conversations and situations
  • Knowledge of the equipment and materials used in the provision of PT/OT treatments
  • Ability to function within an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to function in a stressful environment while maintaining professional demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone, data entry/computer systems skills and word processing skills – including proficiency in Microsoft Office Environment (word, excel, outlook)
  • Possesses appropriate and effective written, oral and non-verbal communication with patients, families, colleagues, and insurance carriers (i.e. WSIB and MVA case managers)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
