About the role

Royal Roads University’s Community Learning Partnerships (CLP) Model brings together students, staff, faculty, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), Indigenous communities and public and community sector partners to collaboratively address priority needs. We do this by leveraging our highly applied teaching and learning model in our core academic programming to offer pro bono research, consulting, design and experimentation services to community partners. In doing so, we are leaning into our university-wide commitment to Invite in and Venture out, pushing boundaries, removing barriers and finding solutions to some of the most critical challenges we face in our communities, while offering our learners a relevant and dynamic university experience.

Position Summary

The Manager, Community Learning Partnerships (CLP) will support the scale and coordination of projects with communities and to track the impact outcomes of this work. This will involve working with senior leadership (Associate Director, WISH, Dean, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, and other Senior Leadership Team as required) to identify and build the necessary internal project management and coordinating infrastructure to communicate, train, and equip faculty, staff and students to work with community partners in an effective, respectful and high impact manner. As well, it will include supporting the diverse network of values aligned community learning partners to engage with the university in ways that are low barrier with high value. Finally, this role will be responsible for collecting both the individual and collective impact statistics (both qualitative and quantitative) for this type of applied and collaborative teaching and learning model on the social, environmental and economic resilience of our community of partners. We are specifically interested in measuring the impact that this model has on the Westshore of Southern Vancouver Island.

The Manager, Community Learning Partnerships (CLP) must be an independent self-starter and highly organized. They will need to be community and people oriented as they hold a public role involving various internal and external partners. As well, the Manager will need to have exceptional communication and organizational skills as they will be responsible for triaging information requests and from staff, faculty, students and the University’s partners on a daily basis. The Manager will assist in the development of strategic planning to scale the impact of this model. This may include travelling on behalf of RRU, assisting others in development strategic communications, giving feedback on reports, creating/updating web pages and social media, coordinating events, and similar tasks. The Manager is expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism when working with our internal and external partners.

This position is funded by PacifiCan. The Manager will work with the Director as well as the PacifiCan Grant Officer to ensure that they implement the annual operating plan in accordance with University budgetary policies, procedures and practices as well as funder guidelines. The position will contribute to sound financial processes management and monitoring. The position will also facilitate contracts ensuring financial activities are completed in accordance with RRU policies, rates, standards and procedures.

Job Requirements

This position requires a motivated and self-directed person who can work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative with minimal supervision; flexibility and multi-tasking skills are essential.

  • A post-secondary degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in project management, business management, and program evaluation (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Demonstrated analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong interpersonal development and leadership capabilities including networking and advocacy skills

  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and presentation skills, both oral and written

  • Financial coordination and contract administration skills and experience

  • Ability to travel locally to visit partners during the workday

  • Advanced skills in emerging tools and technology to support creative ideas;

  • Proficiency in technical background with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office suite, Survey Monkey, LinkedIn, and CRMs.

Additional Information

This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-C with a salary range of $76,430 (minimum) to $89,820 (midpoint) to $103,209 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
