We are currently seeking a Emergency Response and Security Management Intern for a 12 month term starting January 5, 2026. This role is perfect for candidates with strong communication and organizational skills who thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

What you will learn
- Gain an understanding the Plains Emergency and Security Management Programs & regulatory requirements in order to support maintenance of these programs:
- Support the development and execution of emergency response and security exercises and training
- This may require travel in Canada (about 15% of time) and to the USA
- Lead the delivery of select Environmental Emergency (E2) exercises in Canada
- Complete post exercise and training reports (After Action Reports)
- Post and track action items in tracking software
- Support and maintain updates to Emergency Response Plans (ERP’s)
- Conduct internal assurance activities as required by the Programs
- Gain knowledge of the Incident Command System and be able to use it in exercises and training
- Develop the ability to use the tools, resources and forms required for emergency response
- Complete and present assigned projects, showcasing your learning and contributions
- Tackle ad-hoc analytical assignments and reporting, gaining versatile analytical experience

- Skilled at communicating recommendations/findings clearly
- Effective working in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable presenting work in team meetings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Flexible and adaptable to change
Minimum Qualifications
- Preference will be given to second, third, or fourth year students enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelors degree in the field of environmental science, emergency management or a related educational field;
- You will not graduate from your current bachelor’s program prior to the end date of this internship.
- Ability to commit to a 12-month work term starting January 5, 2026
- Past entry level work experience doing customer service or relevant internships are considered an asset.
- Experience working with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint, and Outlook).
- Willingness to relocate to Calgary for the entire duration of the term.
- Ability to provide three satisfactory references from past managers/teachers and pass a Criminal Background Check.
