Job Description Position: Maintenance Heavy Duty Mechanic Primary Location: Brandon, MB Shift: 8 hours/day - Monday-Friday 7:30-3:30 Occasional overtime may be required Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor Compensation: $61.32 per hour + benefits as governed by CBA The CAD hourly rate for this position is $61.32 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. About This Position and About You To provide maintenance support for the facility, including, but not limited to, responsibility for planning, scheduling, and conducting overall plant and equipment maintenance. Ensure that planned and unplanned work is completed safely, efficiently, and with no environmental impact. Qualification Knowledge Must be a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic. Welding Red Seal certification would be an asset. 3-5 years’ experience in industrial or chemical environment highly preferred. Operation of the mobile equipment: Aereal Work Platform, Forklift, Front-end Loader Competencies Be able to obtain various safety certifications (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Forklift, etc.) Able to excel in a team based, self-managed environment. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to execute other duties assigned that may be out of traditional job title scope. Assist other trades as required. Basic computer literacies. Responsibilities Comply with all Chemtrade EHS policies (lockout/tagout, confined space, safe work permits, fall protection, PPE, etc.) Conduct corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance (PM) based on the site computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). In addition, should always be looking at opportunities to improve the existing PM program. Perform maintenance/repairs on various gas and diesel mobile equipment and aerial work platforms. Coordinate or complete all work generated through the Work Order (WO) system. Understand the function of all equipment, i.e. purpose of each piece of equipment and the hazards. Work with hydraulic systems. Assist with organization of scheduled day-to-day activities, emergency work and plant turnarounds. Assist in the management of the spare parts inventory. Work with CMMS management group for timely WO and PM completion. Become competent in the various aspects related to the job regarding mechanical integrity and inspections. Physical Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Employee must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination and endurance. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee is required to climb multi-level stairs/ladders to perform his duties. Employees will be required to wear site designated PPE at all times which includes but not limited to, hard hats, steel toe cap boots, safety specs, safety shields, coveralls, PVC acid resistant suits, hearing protection and an assortment of hand protection. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision. Must be physically capable of occasionally spending long hours sitting in an office environment. Must be “fit for all the above duties”. Work Environment Must be able to perform under the following conditions: Access work in awkward or confining workspaces. Work in elevated places. Work in outdoor environment. Work in noisy environment. Work in areas that are dusty and have some odor from chemicals and etc. Safety is a job requirement. Able to work in Adverse Weather Conditions. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Physically fit to perform traditional heavy duty mechanic tasks Why Chemtrade?
