About the role
The Sales Manager leads a high-performing sales team to deliver exceptional results, expand market share, and strengthen customer relationships. This role oversees day-to-day sales operations, develops strategies to capture new business opportunities, and ensures exceptional service for existing accounts. Acting as both a coach and strategic partner, the Sales Manager drives performance and builds lasting relationships with vendors and key customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Ensure team alignment with corporate sales goals and strategic priorities.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding and professional development of sales staff.
- Monitor and support employee performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals and to foster continuous development.
- Conduct regular field coaching, joint sales calls, and customer visits to strengthen relationships and enhance team effectiveness.
- Partner cross-functionally with internal departments to win, retain, and grow strategic accounts.
- Analyze sales metrics, generate accurate forecasts, and deliver insightful performance reporting to leadership.
- Partner with key vendors to maintain strong relationships, drive sales growth, and support joint business objectives.
- Meet or exceed sales goals, KPIs, and service levels as defined by management.
Qualifications
- University or College business degree.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience managing a sales team, preferably from the Industrial Distribution industry.
- Experience in wholesale, an asset.
- CPSA designation or Sales Methodology training, an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation.
- Demonstrated successful skills in coaching and developing next-generation sales leaders.
- Advanced ability to attain goals and objectives through delegating and managing teams.
- Proven success in sales and business development.
- MS Office Suites: Experience in preparing documents, intermediate Excel features, and creating presentations.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Bilingual (French and English*), spoken and written. (*) This qualification is required as you will be interacting with partners, vendors, internal/external clients and/or staff across Canada on a regular basis.
