About the role
Supervise plant personnel to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner with expected productivity. Detailed production planning to ensure product is manufactured to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities :
- Supervision of plant staff including participating in the annual review process
- Detailed daily production planning to ensure optimal equipment and personnel utilization to achieve on time delivery
- Interface with Engineering and Production.
- Assist with resolving manufacturing issues / non-conformances and clarification of engineering questions
- Training of staff.
- Ensure all work procedures and specifications are followed.
- Must work in a safe manner in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.
- As a Supervisor must ensure workers comply with OHSA regulations and Powersmiths safety practices; ensure workers work safely and use the equipment and protective devices properly; inform workers of job hazards and ensure they are trained to do their jobs safely.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in productivity, cost, or safety
- Must adhere to all ISO 9001 and 14001 policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in monthly and annual inventory counts Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Skills:
- Experience managing people in a manufacturing environment
- Computer skills (email, Microsoft Office products)
- Knowledge of OHSA safety regulations and best practices
- Knowledge of ISO9001 / ISO14001 an asset
- Familiarity with transformer or switchgear products a definite asset
Working Conditions:
- Works primarily on shop floor
- Considerable standing, bending, kneeling but with the ability to move freely
- Required to wear PPE – safety glasses, welding eye protection, gloves, safety shoes
- Overtime may be required depending on order volume
Employment Requirements:
- Community college certification or equivalent in related field.
- Three to five years experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing facility
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people
- Must be able to speak, read and write English.
