POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Transit Supervisor and direction of the Lead Hand, the Transit Operator delivers safe, reliable, and accessible transit services throughout Nelson and the surrounding area in accordance with the Master Operating Agreement. The role is centered on providing exceptional customer service to a diverse ridership—including residents, visitors, and some of the community’s most vulnerable individuals—while ensuring all passengers are treated with respect and transported safely to their destinations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 or GED (General Equivalency Diploma)

• Valid Class 2 BC Drivers’ License with air brake endorsement

• 1 year recent related experience WHMIS

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

• Ability to interact with other employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

• Ability to operate related equipment Ability to organize work

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Familiarity with related municipal policies and procedures

• Familiarity with City of Nelson/municipal, and Worksafe BC safety procedures

$37.10 (PG 4 KLW Routes)
$38.60 (PG 7 CON Routes)
