Braemar Retirement Centre (MacGowan Nursing Home) is an accredited 69 bed licensed Long Term Care facility located in Wingham, Ontario. Braemar is a proud RNAO Best Practice Spotlight organization and is working towards becoming a DementiAbility certified home who aims to provide a collaborative, person-centered environment for staff and residents alike.
We are excited to announce we currently have openings for professional, enthusiastic, compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team. Responsible to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Aide is responsible for the provision of direct resident care in accordance with all organizational and legislative policies and procedures and expected professional conduct. In collaboration with the resident care team, the Dietary Aide ensures adherence to quality resident-focused dining and actively participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Duties include (but not limited to)
- Provides respectful, courteous, pleasant and individualized service at all times, provides ?homelike atmosphere? by getting to know the residents names, diets, consistencies, likes/dislikes, observes eating patterns, communicates concerns to Registered Nurse and Dietitian, Supervisor.
- Re-thermalizing menu items.
- Responsible for the finished quality of all products.
- Responsible and accountable to all aspects of food safety, departmental procedures regarding sanitation and food preparation.
- Performs cleaning, dishwashing and setting up dining room, accountable for microbial tests conducted on servery, dining room equipment or surface areas.
- Transports food wagons and dish wagons to and from servery. Picks up supplies and products from production, checks quality, rotates stock on hand, and discards outdated products.
- Trains co-workers.
- Supplies special events or functions as per requisitions.
- Provides required documentation for all audits, food usage sheets, and ensures that any relevant information regarding the residents or the servery operation is passed on in writing via the communication book to the appropriate person.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Food Service Worker program at an established college as per the requirements of the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of a TB test (skin test or clear chest x-ray), and a minimum of 2 doses of COVID vaccine
- Current CPR (preferred)
- Additional training in the following areas would be an asset: GPA, Person-Centered care, education in relation to working with clients with dementia/responsive behaviours.
