About The Role As a Production Engineer Intern, you will work within the biodiesel or canola crushing facility in Lloydminster, Alberta. This internship provides hands-on exposure to plant operations, equipment troubleshooting, leadership, and real-world manufacturing challenges in a facility that operates 24/7.
This immersive experience is designed to develop future engineering talent at ADM and focuses on four core areas: people management, project management, application of engineering knowledge, and promoting a safe work environment.
Work will occur across a variety of food-processing plant settings and may include climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and performing physically demanding tasks. Housing accommodations may be available, and interns are responsible for their own daily transportation. Interviews are conducted before the intern returns to school to complete the experience.
What You’ll Do
- Apply sound judgement, planning and experience to support effective operations
- Lead by example in safety, food safety, environmental stewardship, quality and production
- Collaborate with employees across multiple departments
- Work closely with facility management and other leaders within the plant
- Communicate clearly with management and employees, both verbally and in writing
- Support the implementation of operational procedures, training programs and company policies
- Assist with problem-solving, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for improvement
What You Bring
- Strong commitment to safety, food safety, environmental stewardship, quality and production
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to anticipate challenges
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable attendance and professionalism
- Ability to work in challenging environments, including climbing stairs and ladders, lifting and moving 50+ pounds, working in confined spaces and at heights, bending, kneeling, standing or sitting for long periods, and wearing a respirator
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
Education and Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field)
