The Air Canada Project Engineering team is presently searching for a Mechanical Engineer with Aviation background and mechanical engineering or drafting background.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prepare and support engineering projects as requested by our internal customers related to the passenger environment – main activities are with the cabin interiors and associated systems.
  • Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, internal and external clients.
  • Ensure deliverables are met on time and budget.
  • Provide technical support to aircraft, in assigned areas and act as technical interface between airline and component manufacturers.
  • Prepare cost estimate, Technical Instructions and project evaluations on corporate initiatives and new product design.
  • Develop specifications for interiors systems equipment and appliances on new aircraft introduction and aircraft reconfigurations.
  • Represent Engineering during multidiscipline meeting and provide input in area of expertise.
  • Create Engineering Drawings, Instructions and Test/Certification reports for the reconfiguration of the cabin for all Air Canada fleets.
  • Work within regulatory design certification standards for Transport Canada Civil Aviation, FAA, and EASA.
  • Certify cabin interior reconfigurations.
  • Review Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives related to Air Canada’s fleet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering is an asset), or other technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Must be a member (or eligible) of a professional engineering association.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience, with mechanical, aviation, and certification engineering experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory design certification standards for Transport Canada Civil Aviation, FAA specifications, and EASA is considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop and write clear, concise technical descriptions, instructions, information sheets and prepare certification reports.
  • Ability to create engineering drawings using AutoCAD 2D or 3D.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English – French is an asset.
  • Team player with effective communication skills and strong customer focus.
  • Pride in accuracy and good work presentation.
  • Self-starter requiring minimum supervision with good decision-making ability.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills, with the ability to co-ordinate details to successful conclusion.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills. Sound judgment and initiative.
  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task, work under pressure and accommodate changing priorities.
  • Solid knowledge of most commonly used PC software, including MS Office applications, as well as AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to be on call and to work flexible hours when needed.
  • Willingness to travel for business requirements, including training, industry meetings, etc.
  • Must be clear of any restrictions which will prevent entry into other countries.
  • Must be eligible to obtain for the Restricted Area Identity Card at Canadian Airports.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
