As an organization deeply invested in the success of Canadian farmers and food producers, FCC emphasizes purpose-driven work, continuous learning, and a collaborative environment that values diversity and inclusion.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Developer to join our Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality, scalable data solutions that underpin FCC’s financial reporting and credit loss calculations. Your expertise will directly impact the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of our financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting strategic decision-making. Working closely with product analysts, architects, developers, and business partners, you will operate within an Agile environment, providing technical leadership and mentorship to team members. Your contributions will help enhance our cloud-based data pipelines, improve data quality controls, and troubleshoot complex production issues, ensuring seamless month-end and year-end processing.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, complemented by extensive hands-on experience in software development. A minimum of six years of relevant experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying complex data-driven solutions is required. Demonstrated expertise in building and supporting data solutions within AWS or similar cloud platforms is essential. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data transformation techniques for large datasets is a must, along with experience in CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern DevOps practices. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive ownership mindset are critical for success in this role. Candidates should also have experience working in Agile teams and collaborating effectively across technical and business functions.

Preferred qualifications include experience supporting financial, risk, or regulatory reporting processes such as IFRS 9, credit risk, or capital reporting. Familiarity with data modeling, validation frameworks, and monitoring strategies is advantageous, as is prior experience working in dynamic, collaborative environments with cross-functional teams. Candidates who are adaptable and eager to learn are encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet every listed requirement.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-quality data solutions supporting the ACL process and financial reporting requirements. Build and optimize data pipelines and transformations within a cloud-native environment, primarily utilizing AWS services. Implement rigorous data quality controls, validation procedures, and monitoring strategies to meet audit and governance standards. Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to ensure system reliability. Participate in technical design discussions for new features, enhancements, and system improvements. Support month-end and year-end data processing activities, ensuring timely and accurate data preparation. Collaborate with product analysts to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions. Mentor and coach junior developers, contribute to code reviews, and promote best engineering practices within the team. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements, leveraging Agile methodologies and iterative development approaches.
