Job Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance, facilities, and custodial operations within a manufacturing environment. This role provides direction and leadership to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The Manager is accountable for developing and executing preventative and predicative maintenance programs, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across all facility operations.
Job Responsibilities
Custodial & Facilities Maintenance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Oversee all maintenance operations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and facility systems.
- Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and KPIs to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and external contractors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
- Oversee capital projects, facility upgrades, and renovations, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Ensure facility systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance, custodial, and facilities teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Establish staffing plans, scheduling strategies, and workforce development initiatives.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and succession planning for team members.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with production, operations, and leadership teams.
- Approve timecards and manage vacation/time off requests for facilities and maintenance staff.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in maintenance and facilities management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience managing maintenance operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building systems, including preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., MaintainX) and data-driven maintenance strategies.
- Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and vendor contracts.
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to influence and drive performance.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
Other Requirements
- Knowledge and an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, climb, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred.
