The location in Hawesville, (Kentucky, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Journey Mechanic. This job is full-time permanent.
Job Description
The primary function of the Journey Mechanic is to keep equipment and machinery operational through maintenance, preventive maintenance, fabrication, replacement, installation, and rebuilding parts and equipment.
If selected for consideration, you must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, aptitude and knowledge tests, criminal background investigation, references verification, pre‑employment drug and alcohol screens, and a pre‑employment fitness for duty examination.
Domtar offers competitive wages starting at $41.81/hour and a range of benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, and 401(k) with company match. Successful New Hires will earn (1) week of Paid Vacation at 6 Months of Employment and will be eligible for an additional week of Vacation after 1 year of Service; and will also receive (12) Paid Holidays annually. Domtar is a supporter in development and continuing education.
Position Requirements
- A personal dedication to safety, including proactive support of efforts to create a culture of safety excellence
- A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Three to five (3‑5) years of industrial maintenance experience as a Journey Mechanic or an Associate's Degree in the mechanical maintenance technology field with 1‑2 years of experience.
- Ability to pass aptitude and knowledge tests
- Skills and working knowledge/experience in troubleshooting and repair of various types of pumps, hydraulic systems, gearbox repair, bearing mounting and alignment, piping systems, conveying/solid material handling equipment, and predictive/preventive maintenance techniques
- Willing and able to function at a high level in a heavy industrial maintenance department; responding to the demands of a 24/7 operation (examples may include working: extended hours, call‑ins, holidays)
