The Role

Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Project Manager is primarily responsibile for the planning and executing of capital projects of various sizes at Gibson Energy’s Wink and South Texas Gateway facilities in the US.

What You Will Do

  • Manages all planning and execution aspects of assigned project portfolio to ensure excellence in EH&S performance, cost, schedule, quality, and technical delivery, following Gibson Energy processes.

  • Liaises with project sponsors to define project scope, manage sponsor objectives and project engineering requirements.

  • Prepares Project Scopes, FEED studies (AFE scope, cost estimate and project schedules), direct various teams during execution of capital projects.

  • Prepares various project documents (execution plans, scoping documents, WBS, meeting summaries, etc.).

  • Ensures project documentation is managed in accordance with Gibson Asset Information Management standards.

  • Manages project scope, costs, schedules and risks and provides regular project reporting to management.

  • Manages relationships with various project internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provides engineering support to the Operations group on routine, technical and operational issues.

  • Minimizes risks through early identification, planning, and proactive project management practices.

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical).
  • Minimum 7+ years related project management experience in in development, design and construction of petrochemical/oil and gas facilities, major crude oil terminals and pipelines, and/or NGL/refined product storage and handling facilities, preferably in capital project related roles.
  • Previous work with (Audits / Compliance) Regulatory bodies required.
  • Knowledge of U.S. business practices and regulatory environment, specifically in the state of Texas.
  • Proficiency with standard engineering and project management tools in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrates excellence in project planning, scope, cost and schedule management, risk management, document management, project reporting and communication.
  • Thrives in fast paced environments, with multiple competing priorities, supporting in parallel, the needs of several different assets.
  • Highly collaborative, ensuring active and timely engagement with multiple stakeholders from different assets and functions.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication.

Working Conditions

  • Calgary Head Office based position that requires travel to project site locations in Texas as needed up to 25% of the time.
  • When employees are outside of the office, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions.

The acquisition strengthens Gibson's cash flow with over 95% of the revenue under take-or-pay contracts with high-quality counterparties.
