We are hiring for multiple seasonal positions, offering a great opportunity to create memorable guest experiences alongside our passionate team all while enjoying beautiful vineyard views each day.

Overview

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the activities of guests and the front of house staff. The host is responsible for greeting guests in a friendly manner, ensuring that they are seated in a timely fashion, quoting accurate wait times when necessary and seamlessly transferring responsibility for those guests to their server once seated.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Receive and record patrons' reservations and assign tables.
  • Ensure every guest is met with a warm greeting. With your professional hospitality skills, ensure the highest standards are provided whilst assisting guests to their tables.
  • Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items.
  • Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and attend to concerns.
  • Ensure tables are set to receive guests with reservations in advance of their arrival.
  • Must seat guests in a manner which ensures that servers are able to provide proper service, the kitchen is not overwhelmed and wait times are kept short.
  • Host/Hostess is responsible for guests until their table has been greeted by a server
  • Co-ordinate activities of guests, food and beverage servers, kitchen and other serving staff.
  • Respond to telephone, and in-person inquiries from customers looking to make reservations.
  • Take reservations for customers in Open Table and work within guidelines set out by FOH management.
  • As a front-line worker, present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, and other interactions.
  • Maintain the reception in a tidy and presentable manner.
  • Host/Hostess is expected to communicate knowledge of our products and services to guests to encourage increased sales.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of hospitality experience preferred.
  • Smart Serve Certificate considered an asset.

  • Communication: This position requires excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Organization: Must be able to easily access and store many types of information on a daily basis.
  • Multitasking: Must be able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while providing impeccable service.
  • Adaptability: Able to accept changing conditions and new information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical: Will be required to go long periods without rest, occasionally lift or move objects over 50LBS

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $16.60-$17.60
  • Included in our controlled tip system.
