The Role
BGC is looking for a Warehouse and Equipment Coordinator to join our team. This is an in-person, warehouse-based role primarily located at our Calgary warehouse in the northeast, where you will be expected to report most days. You will support BGC’s Facility & Equipment, Instrumentation, and Geophysics teams, with occasional presence at our downtown Calgary office, based on operational needs. You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment alongside our Admin Team, Engineers, Geoscientists, and other teams within BGC.
You will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Applied Earth Sciences engineering firm while practicing our core values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.
Responsibilities Warehouse Management
- Ensure the warehouse is well-maintained, organized, clean and safe to work in at all times
- Manage warehouse renovations, moves, repairs and rack reconfigurations
- Operate the forklift within the warehouse
- Coordinate with the warehouse building manager for repairs and maintenance, as applicable
- May be requested to respond to alarms (if available), audit staff permissions and edit configurations on the alarm web-portal
- Support training and safety orientations of staff who may need to work in the warehouse
Equipment Management
- Support local and international shipping including preparation of shipping labels and documents, and coordinate with shipping companies
- Prepare, issue, and collect field equipment and supplies
- Utilize BGC’s asset tracking system and other applications
- Track and report any asset that is due for calibration, with an expiring warranty, for repair or replacement, got lost or stolen
- Perform inspection, maintenance, cleaning and testing on various field equipment
- Pick-up and deliver field equipment and supplies to various locations throughout the city
- Schedule maintenance and ensure BGC fleet trucks are ready for field projects
- Assist in maintenance of geophysical, instrumentation, and borehole equipment for field projects
General
- Purchase and source equipment and supplies
- Maintain sufficient consumables stock of equipment and supplies to support BGC projects
- Coordinate with various suppliers and contractors
- Review invoices from suppliers and contractors, compare to work orders, and send to accounting for payment processing
- Assist other BGC offices on matters related to equipment, and if required, undertake occasional travel to other BGC offices or work sites
- Work with management to come up with budgets and or pricing options (quotes), as applicable
- Perform other tasks as required
- In-person presence at the warehouse full-time.
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- 3+ years work experience in managing equipment, including experience in a warehouse setting
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- Proficient user of MS Office suite with emphasis on Excel and comfortable learning new technology and software
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lb loads regularly
- Completed or willing to complete CSA Standard B335-15 - Industrial Lift Truck Operator Training
- Completed or willing to complete Radiation Safety and TDG for Portable Gauge Users
- Familiarity with the use of various hand tools and perform simple repairs at the warehouse
- Self-motivated, with strong time management and task prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Being flexible with work hours and willing to take on various tasks as requested
Desired Education, Experience & Competencies
- Diploma in Facilities Management is an asset
- Good understanding of budget tracking and purchasing is an asset
- Knowledge of geophysical and geotechnical tools, instrumentation and monitoring equipment is an asset
Position Requirements
Driver’s License BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a full size pickup truck. Upon hiring, BGC will require a driver’s abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.
