The Integrated Forensic Program delivers specialized mental health care for individuals with mental illnesses who have come into contact with the criminal justice system or who are at risk of doing so. We provide assessment and treatment services to improve our clients ’mental health and reduce their risk of re-offending**.**

Duties:

  • Provide psychological evaluations in a timely fashion for the purposes of Court ordered psychiatric assessments for people who suffer from a severe mental illness who come into conflict with the legal system.
  • Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment (individual, group) for adults in Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Incorporate goal oriented techniques in treatment protocols (e.g. CBT, DBT)
  • Participate in the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of the Forensic Psychiatry Program.
  • Provide individual and team case consultation and assistance.
  • Participate in Program Development and Evaluation, and Clinically oriented research including successful applications in alignment with the Royal strategic goals and the Program’s objectives
  • Function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in academic activities including: supervision of pre-doctoral practicum students and residents in psychology, non-registered psychology staff and supervised practice psychology staff, and professional consultation to registered members of other disciplines as required.
  • Demonstrate leadership and collaboration skills through participation in program and discipline specific activities.
  • Demonstrated commitments to continuous quality improvement, evidence based practices and teamwork are essential.
  • Demonstrate professional integrity through adherence to college and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contacts, as well as adherence to The Royal’s policies on timely completion of documentation and workload measurement.
  • Work in a manner that complies with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Harassment-Free Workplace policy.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program

  • Registration or Eligible for Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario is mandatory.

  • 2 - 3 years experience post PhD in clinical mental health is an asset.

  • Mandatory Authorized areas of practice in Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology.

  • Authorized client population with Adults is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and competency with integration of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices of recovery into program design, evaluation and delivery.

  • Demonstrated competency in delivering evidence based treatment in both individual and group formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to communicate and collaborate in an inter-professional team context are essential.

  • Maintain work load measurement and data collection as required and input into the workload measurement system on a regular basis.

  • English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range:

61.50 to 79.75 per hour
