Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory's communities.

Maintenance Planner, Mechanical (QEC-25-042)

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance, the Maintenance Planner, Mechanical will support Enterprise Asset Management across the Corporation, using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Enterprise Resource Planning programs and other corporate policies, procedures and guidelines. The Maintenance Planner, Mechanical is responsible for scoping, scheduling, estimating and overall planning for the Maintenance Department work for all mechanical systems and equipment within power plants and substations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support safe work planning by identifying hazards and reviewing and implementing safe work practices for all maintenance work, in alignment with corporate safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Adheres to long-term strategic plan for improving maintenance of regional generation facilities and ensures continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Prepare and develop work plans with appropriate scope and level of detail, for all preventative, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance, plant and service improvements, and expansions for each regional generation facility.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System, including input service requests, tracking of materials and inventory, and history of plant equipment.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of service improvements to generation facilities.
  • Assists with annual operating budget and develop various ad-hoc operational reports.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • Five years of post-qualification experience in power plants or relevant work environment.
  • Intra-provincial certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician, or relevant trades discipline.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory drivers abstract.

Assets:

  • Two years of supervisory or lead hand role experience is an asset.
  • Experience in preparing operating work plans and budgets is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Products, or other relevant CMMS program, is an asset.

A combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $130,145.60-153,192.00 and a northern living allowance of $16,008.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. Accommodation is not guaranteed at this point and will be allocated when available. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
