KCDSB invites applications for a1.0FTEPermanentInformation Technology (IT) Network and Cybersecurity Specialistat the Catholic Education Centre located in Kenora, ON to commence employment as soon as possible:

Salary:$62,139 - $77,936

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Information Technology Services and will work closely with the Information Technology (IT) Technician Lead to perform the day-to-day operations on the Board's Information Technology Systems. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for performing IT support for a wide variety of software and hardware technology solutions used in individual schools while providing technical support to staff within the Board. Specific hardware and services include the helpdesk, backup, switches, routers, wireless access points, video conferencing units, telephones, cabling, cameras, classroom technology and cybersecurity systems.

KEY****RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs, maintains, and provides network and server support to ensure that all users have reliable, uninterrupted access
  • Applying a deep technical understanding of industry standards in network infrastructure and technical solution trends
  • Maintaining Board IT assets such as network equipment, Chromebooks, and underlying infrastructure (VPN, Firewalls, Security, SASE solution)
  • Must be able to display positive attitudes and behaviours, which demonstrate an awareness and willingness to respond to internal customers meeting their needs, requirements, and expectations
  • Remains current and ensures the Department follows the Ministry of Education guidelines, Board policies and procedures
  • Maintain and monitor IT network communication assets to ensure continuity of services
  • Perform necessary upgrades to the network infrastructure as needed
  • Monitors SIEM and other security platforms, investigating and mitigating any incidents
  • Develop and implement computer security strategies
  • Provides technical assistance on the helpdesk to support technical issues
  • Creates and maintains information technology documentation, contingency, and disaster recovery plans
  • Acts as a resource person to Board committees, school committees, school councils and staff in computer information technology matters (i.e. Board Meetings)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary Graduate with a diploma in an IT related discipline
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • A minimum of 3 years' IT experience, ideally supporting network infrastructure
  • Critical thinker with good troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem-resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as an individual contributor as well as part of a team and with other relevant stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to identify and manage changing priorities
  • Proficiency in providing and measuring exceptional Customer Service experience and maintaining professional working relationships with peers and external vendors
  • Industry standard Cybersecurity and Network certifications would be considered an asset
  • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting SASE solutions
  • A good understanding of TCP/UDP, IP, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, Network Security, VPNs, scripting as well as other emerging technologies is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as it pertains to supporting end users with a varying degree of computer experience
  • Ability to develop priorities and sound documentation to support work within the scope of the position
  • Passion for learning and engaging with new network ideas
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of the following is considered an asset:
    • Microsoft 365
    • Google Workspace
  • This position requires a valid G Driver's license. Travel to Red Lake, ON is an essential requirement of the role and will occur a minimum of three (3) times annually to support operational school needs
