About the role

As Social Media Lead for Whitecaps FC, you’ll play a key role in bringing the energy of soccer to life online. From match-day moments to behind-the-scenes stories, you’ll create content that connects fans, amplifies the club’s voice, and drives engagement across all platforms. This role blends creativity, strategy, and real-time execution to keep Whitecaps FC at the forefront of digital trends while delivering a best-in-league fan experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Director, Creative & Content to develop and implement social media strategies that align with brand and marketing objectives.

  • Set measurable engagement goals and create effective campaigns and features that drive league-leading fan engagement.

  • Lead and manage a dynamic social media content calendar, including planning and publishing content across whitecapsfc.com, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, etc.

  • Maintain brand voice and visual standards; ensure compliance with MLS Commercial Guidelines and copyright laws.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (communications, partnerships, ticket sales, soccer development, community) and external agencies/influencers to optimize execution and amplify campaigns.

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence team to analyze performance insights and continually improve engagement.

  • Manage social media team during matches, capturing, creating, and posting content while providing real-time feedback and support.

  • Coach and mentor Social Media Coordinators; develop process documentation and train new team members on tools and workflows.

  • Bring creativity and innovation to keep content at the forefront of digital trends and emerging platforms.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in social media management or digital marketing.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple B2C channels and create compelling branded content.

  • Experience leading junior staff and managing external vendors.

  • Certification in Hootsuite, HubSpot, or similar tools preferred.

  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills; Adobe Creative Suite and video editing experience an asset.

  • Diploma or degree in Business, Communications, or related field.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with curiosity and problem-solving mindset.

  • Experience in the sports or entertainment industry is an asset, with an understanding of fan engagement and live-event dynamics.
