About the role
Gibbons Whistler is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team .
As CFO, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy, driving growth, and ensuring sustainable long-term success. You’ll work closely with our CIO and senior leaders to guide key decisions that impact every part of the organization.
What We’re Really Looking For
- You’ve built or led companies where after-tax ROIC exceeded 25%
- You operate like a capital allocator —not just a budget manager
- You’ve run finance like a value creation lab , not a cost center
- You’re comfortable navigating and deploying float-based revenue models , presale cash flows, and deferred revenue structures
- You bring a mini-CEO mindset —able to zoom from balance sheet to bar shift
Cultural Alignment Matters
This isn’t a back-office role - you’ll:
- Participate in bar reviews, venue audits, and guest journey mapping
- Hold teams (including our senior leaders) accountable to the Gibbons Way and Gibbons Business Systems performance standards
- Challenge bad growth and protect the long-term brand
How We’ll Choose You
We won’t ask for your résumé—we’ll ask:
- “What’s your ROIC hurdle and why?”
- “How do you tie capital strategy to guest experience?”
- “What’s your best and worst investment decision?”
You'll be invited to:
- Solve our Float Simulation Challenge : “How would you deploy $25M in pre-sale revenue over 18 months?”
- Design a 3-year balance-sheet expansion plan for one of our verticals
- Present your capital allocation framework and guest flywheel metrics live
Your Source Code
You should know—or want to learn deeply—the principles behind:
- Berkshire Hathaway’s allocation discipline
- Costco’s float model
- Constellation Software’s decentralized playbook
- LVMH’s IP-driven vertical scaling
- Toyota’s frontline-led execution model
- Gibbons’ own Float Fund flywheel
Guardrails You’ll Live By
- 26.5% equity CAGR
- ≥25% after-tax ROIC baseline
- Exceptions: only when funded ≥60% by float or debt <5% after-tax
- Everything must support our Après Pass membership quotas and 6 North Star KPIs
This Is the Game
You're not just a CFO.
You're the financial co-architect of an empire rooted in love, vision, precision, and trust—with a 12-year run toward $1.6B.
