The General Labourer supports both cellar and bottling operations, assisting with day-to-day tasks to ensure wine production, packaging, and order assembly are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This role contributes to multiple departments as required, maintaining flexibility, cleanliness, and attention to detail across all tasks.
What this teammate will be responsible for -
Bottling & Packaging Support
- Assist with bottling and packaging operations, including loading empty cases and casks onto the line and assembling finished goods.
- Hand-pack and palletize various wine bottle formats for shipping.
- Load bottles onto labeling or capsule stations and assist with rework (e.g., de-bottling non-conforming product).
- Inspect all packaging materials for damage before use.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bottling equipment and workstations.
- Follow all SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), reporting quality concerns to the lead hands.
- Conduct material and product inventory counts as requested.
Cellar Operations Support
- Assist in fermentation, processing, clarification, filtration, and blending of juice and wine.
- Operate pumps, hoses, valves, and flowmeters to transfer wine and juice.
- Perform material additions (e.g., KMS, nitrogen, CO₂) and record tank measurements and readings.
- Support bulk wine receiving and unloading of trucks (stainless and flexitanks).
- Clean and sanitize tanks, drums, and equipment using proper chemical handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate operating records and report any deviations or equipment issues.
- Follow HACCP, SOPs, and company safety protocols at all times.
- Support cellar maintenance by generating work orders and reporting issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized cellar environment on a routine and as-needed basis.
The skills, experience and knowledge this teammate will bring -
- Forklift and Scissor Lift License an asset(training and certification can be provided on-site if not currently held)
- WHMIS Training an asset
- High School Diploma or GED; HACCP training an asset
- 1–2 years’ experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of safe equipment operation
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift up to 22 kg, consistent standing, walking, bending, stair and ladder climbing
