Development is responsible for executing strategic land development opportunities that include the delivery of Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC), the use of surplus lands for social purpose outcomes (e.g., attainable housing, health care and long-term care), and the planning and delivery of landmark projects like the redevelopment of Ontario Place.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Advisor to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will provide advice and recommendations to the CIO in support of Infrastructure Ontario’s Development and Asset Management (DEVAM) Division’s mandate. This includes managing key decision-making of the CIO's office, communicating CIO/executive priorities, managing internal and external relations by addressing political requests, coordinating the division and teams for strategic operational requirements, and acting as a corporate liaison.
What You Will Do:
- Provide advice and recommendations to the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Management team on strategies and initiatives regarding strategic policy that advance the Division’s goals and objectives in both the short and long term.
- Facilitate communication across the executive team and the organization to ensure that the divisions’ leaders and business units are kept informed of relevant initiatives, developments, and issues to ensure coordinated and integrated activities, responses, and issues management.
- Develop strategies, practices, and tools to facilitate alignment and information sharing across the executive team.
- Collaborate with the Corporate and Division Program Reporting team to meet project and key partner requirements.
- Work with the DEVAM teams, communications department, and business units to ensure coordinated internal and external messaging from the CIO’s office and support the development of division-wide communication strategies.
- Act as CIO Advisor on strategies and initiatives supporting the CIO on business planning issues and refining and articulating business strategy.
- Drive success on top priorities as directed by the CIO and work with division executives to ensure progress around objectives, key strategic initiatives, and assigned tasks by the CIO.
- Liaise with business units to ensure appropriate and complete information is provided for decision-making and informational purposes.
- On the CIO’s behalf, meet with internal and external key partners to address concerns, receive and provide information.
- Coordinate the Division’s strategic objectives, including the setting of objectives, monitoring progress against said objectives, and providing evaluations at the end of the fiscal year.
- Participate in Division Financial Planning & Analysis process, including review of annual budgets, monitoring of division profit & loss, setting budgets as required.
- Collaborate with key partners to devise program and project strategies, as directed by the CIO.
- Support procurement of services as required for the Division.
- Deliver business-critical documents to the CIO.
- Represent Infrastructure Ontario and the DEVAM division in a diplomatic manner that inspires trust.
- Use political acumen and understanding of government practices, policies, and procedures to achieve key decisions and issues clearing.
- Present issues and recommendations/solutions to internal and external parties.
- Keep the CIO, division leaders, and key partners informed of issues, response strategies, and progress.
- Identify, anticipate, and direct issues, informing the CIO of items which require attention, and provide options and assistance to resolve issues.
- Lead and coordinate initiatives and special projects as requested.
- Prepare briefing notes, memos, and presentations on behalf of the CIO.
- Lead and coordinate monthly reporting to the relevant internal Real Estate and Development (RED) Committee, Board Committees, OILC Board, and division.
- Support the overall division in resource planning, reporting, and communications.
What We Are Looking For:
- Several years of progressively responsible experience in real estate and development, government relations, public administration, or key partner management, as well as in the development and implementation of comprehensive policy strategies and programs dealing with complex and wide-ranging issues.
- Experience in a government advisory capacity, briefing, and making recommendations to senior executives and staff.
- Post-secondary learning in real estate, architecture, planning, development, public administration, business, or related program, or appropriate work experience that would be considered equivalent. An advanced degree is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
- Experience with critical thinking.

We offer a competitive salary range of $82,800 to $124,100 (P4 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
