Compliance Officer, Testing
About the role
Temporary Full Time
Reporting to the Director, Compliance Testing, Lifeco and Canada, this role supports the second line of defence mandate with respect to compliance oversight by providing independent monitoring, review, testing, and validation of compliance related controls operating across all Canadian operations of Canada Life.
What you will do:
- Execute compliance testing in accordance with Compliance Testing procedures and Global Compliance Testing Methodologies.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance controls by reviewing and analyzing artifacts and data.
- Investigate anomalies to identify root causes.
- Assist in compliance testing engagements, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Prepare engagement letter, working papers, testing issues, and draft reports.
- Familiarize with GRC tool and support its enhancement by providing inputs.
- Support the tracking of testing issues and their closure.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Compliance Testing Lead.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in internal controls, preferably in Internal Audit, Compliance or Operational Risk Management capacity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive issues to conclusion and navigate complex data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of financial services sector (banking, insurance, credit unions).
- Quality-focused: Strives for excellence in every deliverable.
- Self-motivated: Doesn’t wait for instructions; takes ownership of tasks.
The base salary for this position is between $52,800 - $97,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
