About the role

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Plumber/Gas Fitter B/Cross Connection -Maintenance Worker V to fill a position at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs skilled plumbing work at the journeyman level in the installation, construction, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and/or service of plumbing equipment and systems; install, test, maintain and repair natural gas lines, appliances, equipment and accessories; and inspect and test cross connection and backflow prevention systems and medical gas systems, in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Performs trades duties approaching the journeyman level in one or a variety of trades areas such as electrical and painting in compliances with applicable codes and regulations. May supervise Maintenance Workers and other designated staff.
This position is for the NEW Dawson Creek Hospital. The successful applicant may be required to provide after hours on call services on rotation.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 07:00 to 15:00

Qualifications
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B level Gas Fitter’s License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC. Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section. Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Valid BC drivers’ license.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to deal with others effectively.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • Ability to organize work.

  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • Ability to travel within NH region.
