The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Seasonal Labourer in Environmental Services to assist with the operation, maintenance of municipal water and wastewater repairs, as well as general grounds and public works tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and well-maintained infrastructure and public spaces. . This role will also support Roads when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Water and Wastewater Operators with maintenance, repairs, and general operations.
  • Conduct traffic control as required for maintenance or operational activities.
  • Operate trucks, mowers, and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Paint and maintain fire hydrants, curbs, and other municipal infrastructure.
  • Perform grass cutting and trimming duties.
  • Prune trees and shrubs as needed for safety and aesthetics.
  • May assist Roads staff with general public works duties.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues.
  • Follow all safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction, or related municipal work is an asset.
  • Experience operating mowing or grounds maintenance equipment is desirable.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s Licence (Ontario); DZ licence an asset.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Early mornings, variable hours, and occasional weekends may be required.
