The Basics Location: Northgate, SK

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Days/Hours: This job will be 1st shift, 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri with overtime as needed. During harvest you can expect a lot of OT, including weekends.

Equipment Used: Various grain handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs

Material Handled: Bulk commodities: wheat, canola, oats

What You’ll Be Doing The Grain Elevaor Team Leadger is responsible for providing training, support and assistance to hourly team members. You will have a key role in maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace in compliance with Company policies and applicable regulations.

Specific Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and procedures.

  • Loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, drying, storage, aeration and fumigation of grain.

  • Effectively assist with the supervision and management of personnel and operational activities.

  • Assist with managing the business to plan according to pre-set objectives.

  • Be familiar with all operations, systems, policies and procedures including, but not limited to:

  • Weighing or measuring materials and products and using scales or other measuring instruments in order to verify specified tonnages

  • Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows

  • Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime

  • Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants

  • Observing conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges, in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions.

  • Assist with preventative maintenance protocols and elevator operations.

  • Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised team members.

Requirements To Be Successful In This Position

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year plus experience working in grain handling facility or similar
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or similar is preferred
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Available to work overtime and weekends
  • Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
  • Able to pass a criminal background check

  • You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces
  • You will work at heights
  • You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
  • This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders
  • You will be required to wear PPE
