##Scope
We are looking to add a customer-focused Utility Coordinator to our Land Development team of passionate and knowledgeable professionals. This is an intermediate technical and administrative position providing support and assistance to senior staff in administrative responsibilities and performing moderately complex technical work related to the completion of a variety of City engineering activities and projects specifically related to processing of requests from external utility agencies (FortisBC, BC Hydro, Telus, Rogers and more) for permits to install works within municipal road allowances.

##Responsibilities
- Coordinate the design, construction, and inspection stages of external utility and test well projects within road allowances.
- Review designs, detail drawings, specifications and project estimates, and performing field inspections.
- Process and issue City Road/ROW Permits and Traffic Obstruction Permits.
- Manage multiple concurrent permits with competing deadlines in a fast-paced municipal environment.
- Prepare inter-office memos for temporary road closures.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, contractors, consultants, and the public.
- Work with internal staff and other City Departments as well as liaise with Consultants, Contractors, Utility Companies, and other agencies.
##Qualifications
The successful applicant will have:
- Completion of a one year certificate in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with 3 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability or an equivalent combination of related training and experience; OR
- Completion of a two year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post secondary institution with exposure to relevant engineering work.
- A demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability in the relevant areas of engineering.
- Experience working with or in utilities would be considered an asset.
- You have a broad range of civil engineering experience and are comfortable in developing solutions to existing problems.
- You are a team player who thrives in a challenging environment and possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license.
