Location: Mississauga

**Shifts:**7am to 3pm; 11am to 7pm Monday to Friday and some weekend coverage

Union**:**membership required after 600 hours.

The**Millwright Apprentice (Industrial Mechanic)**supports the maintenance, installation, and repair of manufacturing equipment while working under the supervision of a certified millwright. This role provides hands‑on exposure to all aspects of industrial mechanical maintenance, including fabrication, equipment installation, and the maintenance of safety guarding to ensure a safe work environment. The apprentice assists with machinery dismantling and reinstallation, welding and cutting tasks, equipment leveling, and general maintenance activities across production operations. The role also supports routine maintenance tasks such as tooling changeovers, minor plumbing, and upkeep of plant equipment.

A mechanical & technical assessment must be completed to determine general mechanical aptitude and suitability for the role.

What will you do?

  • Assist with the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including pumps, motors, blowers, and related mechanical systems.
  • Support the dismantling, cleaning, inspection, and reinstallation of production equipment such as screw dies, polishing rolls, toggle assemblies, and associated components.
  • Participate in learning and supporting machine start‑up, shutdown, and changeover procedures in a manufacturing setting.
  • Prepare and follow hot work permits and comply with all plant safety requirements.
  • Communicate the completion, status, and any issues related to assigned tasks to the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.
  • Maintain GMP, SQF, and housekeeping standards within assigned work areas to support food safety and production requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with junior and senior maintenance personnel to complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Learn and use Megamation to complete daily work orders and maintenance documentation.
  • Learn and use Poka software to complete assigned training and maintenance tasks.
  • Support overall plant operations by promoting positive team behaviors and effective communication across all shifts.

What are we looking for?

  • Enrolled in a Millwright Apprenticeship (Industrial Mechanic) program.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a strong interest in industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven ability to effectively troubleshoot mechanical issues under supervision.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance teams while maintaining positive team behaviours across all shifts.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and industrial conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and use maintenance systems such as Megamation and Poka as part of daily work activities.
