About the role
Job Summary
Perform installation, fabrication and repair of structural metal components on construction projects. Work safely at heights and collaborate with crews to meet project specifications and schedules.
Number of Positions
5 Main Duties Assemble, position and install structural steel components such as beams, columns and trusses using cranes and rigging equipment. Align, secure and fasten components by bolting, riveting or welding according to drawings and specifications. Read and interpret structural drawings, layout plans and measurement instructions to determine installation sequence. Operate hand and power tools to cut, shape and fit metal components and perform finishing work as required. Inspect completed assemblies for alignment and structural integrity and perform on-site adjustments or repairs. Implement and follow site safety procedures, set up fall-protection systems and coordinate safe rigging and lifting operations with crew members.
Requirements
Secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred, or completion of a relevant trade apprenticeship. Previous experience in structural steel erection, metal fabrication or a related trade. Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions for extended periods. Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials, climb, balance and work in confined spaces. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, take accurate measurements and follow instructions. Familiarity with rigging, welding basics and safe operation of common hand and power tools, or willingness to complete training.
