About the role

Primary Duties:

Provides leadership and coordination of off shifts; in the areas of: performance, safety, quality, productivity, and certifications, etc. Responsible for safety and incident investigation and reporting; provides training/mentoring and development of supervised employees. Has responsibility for results of on time shipping, inventory system and administrative duties. Leads kaizen and lean six sigma projects and recommends, develops and implements improvement plans.

Essential Duties:

  • Works in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the safety of all assigned employees through training and enforcement of all company safety guidelines.
  • Ensure 5S, Housekeeping and Workplace Organization meet NSG Standards.
  • Supports compliance with OHSA, Environmental, and DOT regulations to assure a safe warehousing and transportation environment.
  • Pre-shift Safety Walk to advise team on items to address and current conditions.
  • Uses and reviews shipment schedule, tracks expedites, short ships and root cause analysis\
  • Responsible for 100% on time delivery to customers according to planned dock schedule.
  • Communicate to Materials Manager, Scheduler any potential expedites and short ships and root cause analysis.
  • Develops both internal and external programs to meet or exceed customer expectations through continually improving products, processes and services.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation for history and audit purposes.
  • Facilitate training for all supervised employees to understand the requirements for successfully performing their job function.
  • Staff the shift, and coordinate assignments and responsibilities to the scheduled team members.
  • Understand priority of customers as assigned by Materials Manager.
  • Understanding of current customer condition to ensure proper flow of standard delivery, expedite mode, critical deliveries.
  • Responsible for direct communication with internal & external customers regarding product supply, shortages, available to promise and on time response entries to open tickets & issues from customer specific communication systems.
  • Prepare timely and accurate shipping schedules through analysis of customer orders and shipping sequences. Maximizes shipping productivity through attentiveness to customer needs, inventory and manpower.
  • Provides customer service to internal/external glass customers and acts as liaison with local QS and plant management on quality issues. Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with customers to ensure feedback and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Process/Operations Failure Escalation Process.
  • Manage cycle count and true up process.
  • Daily audits of haulers and put away drivers to ensure the proper inventory is pulled and inventory is placed in proper location.
  • Manage and complete IRC ticket reconciliation process.
  • Act as the SAP Administrator and direct all activities required to maintain system accuracy.
  • Participates in annual physical inventories as required

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum 2-3 years recent supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting; preferably automotive.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to utilize a computer-based inventory control system.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate to create positive work environment including team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Resolution of employee-related issues including mentoring and training.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in the English language (verbal and written).

Qualifications Desired:

  • Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific and proficient knowledge and training in SAP / MRP and related areas.
  • APICS training/certification
