Your Opportunity

The role of an Intermediate Civil Engineer is to work both independently and as a team member on small to medium-sized and complexity projects, and as a supporting discipline team member of large and complex projects. In this position, you could work as a project engineer, discipline lead, project technical lead, project manager or a combination of roles to guide the projects to successful outcomes for the communities we work with. As an Intermediate Civil Engineer, you will work with a variety of personnel and skillsets on multi-discipline teams and mentor and train junior staff both technically and professionally.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing projects of small to medium size and complexity and providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

  • Provides technical leadership for civil-related projects and serves as Engineer-of-Record.

  • Perform engineering design tasks on assigned projects independently or under supervision of the Project Technical Lead or Project Manager, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, and presentations.

  • Perform client account management and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, assisting/writing proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts in British Columbia.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.

  • Manage and lead other team members while working on projects; complete tasks and delegate specific project tasks to team members as appropriate.

  • Prepare tender and contract documents for construction (i.e., engineering drawings and specifications), and participate in constructability reviews and/or site inspections.

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design, including gravity and pressure systems, survey, storm water/drainage design, erosion and sediment control, and grading.

  • Efficient project management and project technical duties on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high-quality deliverables.

  • Ability to lead and support junior staff through all phases of projects, checking accuracy, quality and completeness.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means-and-methods, materials, and industry standards. Understanding Metro Vancouver design standards is preferred. Strong communication, presentation, and interview skills are preferred.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of services.

  • General understanding of software as well as relevant discipline software programs (AutoCAD, Civil3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, REVIT, others) is a plus, but not required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer with 5-10 years of experience. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 91,800.00 - Max Salary $ 133,100.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
