Job Description
The Editorial Specialist is responsible for shaping Indigo’s brand voice and customer storytelling across all channels. As part of a two-person editorial pod reporting to the Senior Director, Brand Marketing, this role curates and crafts editorial content that brings Indigo’s mission to life: inspiring reading for kids and adults and simplifying thoughtful gifting.
This is not just a copywriting role—it is about editorial curation: knowing the right line, whether you wrote it, curated it, or adapted it. You will be responsible for creating and managing high-output, high-impact copy across diverse touchpoints, from email to in-store, ensuring coherence of message while delivering on campaign goals. You will flex across platforms and campaigns, building end-to-end expertise and taking ownership of major storytelling moments.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Increased customer engagement, traffic, and conversion across key touchpoints (site, email, social, in-store, and marketing campaigns)
- On-time, on-brand, within-scope delivery of content at scale
- Accuracy, clarity, and consistency of editorial voice across channels
- Contribution to process refinement and improved team efficiency

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
- Develop compelling, effective, and on-brand copy across channels, including product packaging, ecommerce, social, email, in-store signage, campaigns, and gift guides.
- Curate and unify brand messaging across all editorial moments, ensuring alignment with Indigo’s broader storytelling priorities.
- Build and manage campaign messaging end-to-end, from brief through execution.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (creative, marketing, merchants, and external vendors) to identify key storytelling opportunities and optimize customer experience.
- Leverage SEO & AI SEO best practices and customer insights to develop copy that drives discoverability, engagement, and conversion.
- Use available tools—including emerging AI platforms—responsibly to accelerate ideation, drafting, and refinement of copy, while maintaining strong editorial judgment.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
- Use insights from channel team reporting on content to continually refine approach
- Contribute to the editorial calendar and integrate storytelling into omnichannel briefs.
- Act as an advocate for the customer, placing them at the forefront of messaging decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase output efficiency, and evolve editorial practices.

- Work collaboratively within the editorial pod and cross-functionally, ensuring knowledge-sharing and consistent execution.

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Writing, English, Journalism or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in copywriting, editorial content, or brand storytelling (in-house or agency)
- Experience writing and curating content to a defined brand voice
