About the role
Overview:
As part of the Department of Community & Leisure Services, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill up to two (2) permanent, full-time Facility Maintenance Worker positions.
Under the direction of the Arena Supervisor or designate, this position supports operations within the arena and related event facilities. Key responsibilities include performing all aspects of ice maintenance such as operating the ice resurfacer, ice making, and ice repair. The role also involves janitorial duties, including cleaning dressing rooms, seating areas, and washrooms. In addition, the position assists with event set-up and take-down, and supports parks operations including grass cutting, tree maintenance, and general park upkeep. The position may also provide assistance to other City departments as operational needs arise.
Qualifications:

Grade 12 or GED

Certificate or Diploma in Recreation Facility Maintenance is preferred

Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Preference to applicants with any of the following certifications; Arena Operators Certificate, Refrigeration Operation Certificate, Pesticide Applicator Certificate, Turf Maintenance and Irrigation Certificate, Horticulture Certificate, Tree Care Qualifications, or any related field

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Compensation:
- This is an in-scope position under CUPE Local 2359. Starting rate of pay is $26.65 per hour (2025 rate).
- Employees are eligible for the employer matched defined pension plan, annual paid vacation days, free leisure pass, and a comprehensive health and wellness plan
- This position includes a combination of early morning, evening, and weekend shifts within a four-week rotating schedule. Staff currently work 10-hour shifts and every second weekend.
