Role Description The Security System Technician role is a part-time, on-site position based in Concord, ON. The technician will install, configure, test, and maintain security systems, including CCTV and IP cameras, access control systems, alarm systems, turnstiles, and intercoms at client locations. Day-to-day tasks include running and terminating cables, mounting and aligning cameras and devices, programming systems and user access, and integrating hardware with network infrastructure. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues, performing routine inspections, documenting work performed, and providing basic user training to clients on system operation. The technician will follow safety standards and company procedures, coordinate with team members and clients, and ensure systems are installed according to design specifications and local regulations.

Qualifications

Practical experience with CCTV, IP camera systems, access control, alarm systems, intercoms, and related security hardware. Skills in cabling, wiring, mounting, and device installation, including use of hand and power tools and basic electrical safety practices. Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as IP addressing, routers, switches, and PoE for camera and access control deployments. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, perform system testing, and configure software and hardware settings. Strong documentation and organizational skills for recording installations, configurations, and maintenance activities. Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members, including explaining system features clearly. Ability to work on-site, including lifting equipment, working at heights or in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods. Relevant technical diploma, certification, or equivalent experience in security systems, electronics, or networking (e.g., ESA, networking or low-voltage certifications) is an asset. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to client sites; familiarity with Concord/Toronto area is beneficial.
