The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Underground Operations Coordinator to join our Underground Mine Operations department in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

This is a permanent on-site position, working a 2 week on, 2 week off rotation.

The Underground Operations Coordinator is responsible for working closely with all areas of operations and maintenance to ensure work is planned and scheduled accurately while ensuring adequate utilization of resources, labour and materials. Building a strong relationship with the mining team, supervisors, departmental schedulers and planners will be key in this role.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Establish and communicate work schedules. Verify that schedules satisfy daily and long term requirements;
  • Build work scopes for execution against the short and long range schedules;
  • Ensure that work plans are designed to safely operate without impact to employees, the business, the environment, the community and the regulators, while ensuring minimal disruption to production;
  • Assist in the development and utilization of SAP; Improve the efficiency of the planning process by developing and using templates for various jobs;
  • Support the generation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports;
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders to meet completion deadlines;
  • Utilize HomeSafe tools in field discussions and exhibit behaviors of HomeSafe and consider how to consistently reduce risk to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) when executing tasks.

About You Education :

  • Post Secondary Education in a related field.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience :

  • 5+ years’ work experience in Mining Supervision, Mining Planning or a closely related discipline in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Understanding of computerized work management systems;
  • Understanding Asset Management concepts and systems.

Skills :

  • Demonstrate strong computer skills including SAP and Deswick;
  • Ability to schedule, prioritize and manage tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
