About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant (2 years' contract) to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in preparing and analyzing financial statements, supporting audits, and driving process improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency. You’ll collaborate across departments to provide insightful financial analysis while ensuring compliance with Canadian GAAP and company policies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, advanced Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems, ideally within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Permanent Full-Time (40 hours)
Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (flexible); Hybrid
In this role, you will
- Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Own and analyze key balance sheet and income statement accounts, providing insights on variances and performance trends.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors during audits, budgeting, and corporate tax preparation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and standardize procedures.
- Contribute to special projects and cross-functional initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.
You have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, along with a CPA designation (or are a CPA student completing experience hours).
- At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including exposure to a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE) and proficiency in ERP systems handling multi-entity and multi-currency operations.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis for financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
