**Mainframe Programmer / Analyst (COBOL, DB2, z/OS) – 12 Month Contract
Location: (Remote)** Staffing Placement Opportunity About The Role We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Programmer / Analyst to support a stable enterprise mainframe environment for one of our clients. This is a long-term contract opportunity suited for a hands-on mainframe professional with strong application support experience and a solid understanding of z/OS environments.
This role is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work with well-established systems in a collaborative, enterprise setting.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain IBM z/OS mainframe applications in a production environment
- Develop, enhance, and troubleshoot applications using COBOL
- Perform database development and support with DB2 and Adabas
- Provide basic z/OS LPAR management support, including monitoring and coordination with infrastructure teams
- Support batch and online processing workloads
- Work with EntireX to support integration between mainframe and distributed systems
- Investigate and resolve production incidents and application issues
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver ongoing system support and enhancements
- Maintain technical documentation and follow established operational procedures
Required Qualifications

Proven experience working in an IBM mainframe (z/OS) environment

Strong hands-on experience with:

COBOL

Adabas

Experience with basic z/OS LPAR management and operational support

Familiarity with EntireX

Solid understanding of batch and online processing concepts

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently in a remote contract role
Nice to Have
- Experience with JCL and CICS
- Exposure to Java in a mainframe or integrated environment
- Experience supporting large enterprise or public-sector systems
