Overview:
Reporting into the National Leader, Digital Advice, the Manager, BMO SmartFolio & Branch Operations, will oversee two high-performing teams, the SmartFolio Advisory Team and the Branch Operations Team. In this role, you’ll drive operational excellence, enhanced client experience, and business growth across our SmartFolio and adviceDirect platforms. This is a unique opportunity to shape a team and push beyond how we work today. This team is a high-impact, client-focused operation that spans across two of BMO’s innovative digital investment platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Branch Operations Team Management:

  • Oversee client support for adviceDirect and SmartFolio, including KYC, trade orders, documentation, operational tasks etc.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service by monitoring performance against established service standards and SLAs, and implementing improvements where needed.
  • Streamline processes and elevate service delivery across all teams to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client experience through process optimization and proactive support strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all adviceDirect and SmartFolio teams, sales teams and other BMO partners to onboard new clients, resolve client issues and other requests as needed.

SmartFolio (SF) Advisory Team Oversight:

  • Guide the SF team in delivering exceptional client support for requests like account openings, money movement, portfolio discussions etc.
  • Coach and develop team members to strengthen their sales capabilities and deliver exceptional client relationship experiences.
  • Lead and execute proactive sales strategies to SF growth, including identifying opportunities, client outreach, and closing sales.
  • Develop and implement referral strategies by nurturing strong client relationships and transforming customer satisfaction into One Client partner referrals.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics to continuously improve sales tactics and referral effectiveness.

Strategic Leadership

  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent by fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous learning, including coaching and performance management to build high-performing teams.
  • Create and execute innovative business development strategies, collaborating with BMO partners to expand client reach and drive growth.
  • Influence and negotiate effectively to align cross-functional priorities and achieve business objectives.
  • Proactively manage performance across both BMO SmartFolio & Branch Operations teams, including coaching, feedback, and development plans to maintain a high-performing team.

Operational Expertise & Advisory Support

  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information while adhering to internal risk mitigation policies and industry regulations.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for complex investment strategy inquiries, providing expert guidance and tailored solutions.
  • Deliver specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support, exercising sound judgment to solve non-routine problems independently.

Lead with Purpose

  • Manage ad hoc requests, initiatives, and projects with agility and focus, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business priorities.
  • Adapt quickly to shifting demands, applying strong organizational and problem-solving skills to deliver high-impact results in dynamic environments.
  • Coordinate across teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of short-term and strategic initiatives.
  • Support evolving business needs through additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 6+ years of relevant experience, with a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Industry designations such as CIM or CFA are considered strong assets.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage people effectively, and drive results in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and developing team members, fostering growth, and building capabilities to support both individual and business success.
  • Strong understanding of investment products, including various types of investment plans and competitive market trends.
  • Solid understanding of risk and compliance management within a financial services environment.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and lead cross-functional teams effectively.

Salary:

$65,600.00 - $122,600.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
