THE ROLE

The IT Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of technology across all peopleCare communities. This position leads IT operations in a dynamic healthcare environment, supporting clinical care, resident experience, and organizational efficiency. Working closely with senior leadership, the IT Manager translates strategy into practical, high-impact solutions that enable growth and innovation. From infrastructure and cybersecurity to service delivery and new developments, this role ensures technology consistently supports safe, seamless care. The IT Manager also fosters strong partnerships across teams, aligning systems with operational and clinical needs. With a focus on continuous improvement, this role helps shape the future of technology at peopleCare.

Reports to: Director of Systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

IT Operations & Service Delivery

  • Lead day-to-day IT operations across all locations, ensuring timely and effective resolution of support requests
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve service level agreements (SLAs) and IT performance metrics (e.g., system uptime, response times, user satisfaction)
  • Ensure delivery of reliable, responsive, and high-quality IT services in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Support end-user training, system adoption, and continuous improvement of user experience
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to ensure IT systems enhance workflows, staff efficiency, and resident experience

Infrastructure & Systems Reliability

  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of all core IT infrastructure, including networks, wireless systems, servers, telecommunications, and integrated platforms
  • Standardize IT systems, configurations, and deployment practices across all sites to ensure consistency and scalability
  • Maintain accurate and current technical documentation, including network diagrams, device inventories, and configuration standards
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle management, including planning, procurement, tracking, and replacement strategies
  • Ensure systems meet uptime expectations critical to clinical and operational continuity

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Own the identification, mitigation, and reporting of IT-related risks, partnering with senior leadership as part of enterprise risk management
  • Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of cybersecurity practices, including access controls, patch management, multi-factor authentication, and endpoint protection
  • Maintain compliance with privacy legislation (e.g., Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)), data governance standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Own and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure readiness for system outages impacting clinical and operational continuity
  • Coordinate with external security partners and lead response to cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities

Projects, Growth & New Developments

  • Lead and execute IT components of construction projects, new site deployments, and system implementations
  • Translate IT strategy and technology roadmaps into actionable, organization-wide execution plans
  • Ensure technology readiness, integration, and standardization across new and existing sites
  • Support implementation and optimization of clinical and operational systems (e.g., PointClickCare, Yardi, ADP)
  • Enable data integrity, system integration, and reporting capabilities to support data-driven decision-making

Leadership, Vendors & Financial Management

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing IT team, establishing clear accountability, performance standards, and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Manage IT vendors, telecommunications providers, and service partners, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and service quality
  • Lead vendor negotiations and oversee contracts to ensure cost-effective and value-driven service delivery
  • Support IT budgeting, forecasting, and cost management, driving optimization and ROI on technology investments
  • Collaborate with Finance and leadership to align IT investments with organizational priorities and growth strategy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibilities

  • Strong expertise in IT infrastructure, networks, servers, and end-user support

  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and regulatory compliance

  • Experience supporting multi-site operations, preferably in healthcare or a 24/7 environment

  • Proven ability to manage vendors, contracts, and external service providers

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure/Active Directory, and ticketing systems

  • Experience leading system implementations, infrastructure projects, or new site deployments
