In addition to planning and executing the premier running and walking events in Calgary, we are always looking for ways to deepen our connection and create greater community impact. This includes curated pop-up events, ale trails, inclusive experiences and giving back to the community.
We’re in year 2 of an ambitious strategic plan and expanding our marketing department with a focus on social media and community events. To help achieve organizational goals, we’re searching for a creative event planner who is passionate about Tik Tok and isn’t afraid to try new things, put themselves out there and loves working on a team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Events Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all marketing and advertising efforts, contributing to ideas, managing budgets, managing vendors and overseeing planning and execution of Run Calgary’s (non-race) programming throughout the year. Experience managing and growing a personal or business Tik Tok and/or Instagram account will be an asset. This role will also involve executing sponsor activations on race weekends and supporting partner relationships. Weekends and evenings are required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute community events of various sizes throughout the year, operating with a set budget and clear objectives
- Community events may include but are not limited to: sponsor events, run crew events, pop-ups, book club meetings, launch events etc.
- Represent Run Calgary at external events such as expos, pop-ups and other races to increase brand awareness
- Manage on-course and on-venue sponsor activations on race weekends and ensure they are executed at the highest level
- Assist and lead content creation and development of fun and innovative social media campaigns to promote Calgary Marathon and Run Calgary events
- Support Marketing Manager with projects such as the ambassador program, run crew directory, Calgary Marathon blog, media database management & other projects as assigned
- Lead social media engagement and in-person activations for 12K’s of Christmas virtual event
ABOUT YOU
You’re a go getter who likes the fast-paced events world and all the ups and downs that go with it. You have excellent foresight and can troubleshoot problems as they arise. You like to get into the details and know that’s where the magic is when it comes to exceptional experiences. You must enjoy working on a team with lots of opinions and be willing to share yours. Generally ‘yes people’ who are nimble and excited about our mission thrive in the Run Calgary environment. Being a runner, walker or wheeler is not a prerequisite, being able to think like one is.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years of event experience
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License required and preferably own vehicle
- Experience managing social media pages, liaising with vendors and sponsors, building community relationships and thinking creatively!
LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta, at Run Calgary HQ, on-site locations and domestic travel as required.
JOB TYPE: Full Time Contract. There may be the possibility to extend this contract and/or it could evolve to a full time staff position.
TARGETED START DATE: October 15, 2025
COMPENSATION: $50,000, paid monthly by cheque at $4167/month.
