About the role
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits Consulting team at Mercer . This role will be based in Toronto . This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. The Employee Benefits Associate will play a crucial role in delivering impactful solutions for organizations of various sizes and industries, directly influencing their employee benefits programs.
We will count on you to:
- Prepare and analyze quarterly experience monitoring reports, providing insights on recent trends and changes
- Reconcile financial statements for group insurance plans and verify compliance with financial agreement
- Evaluate insurer renewals and proposals, ensuring competitive pricing through sound underwriting practices
- Analyze utilization data from various sources to identify cost drivers and emerging trends
- Review work and provide feedback to junior team members, fostering a collaborative learning environment
- Collect, verify, and prepare data for financial analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Develop clear, impactful client presentations and reports based on your analysis, aligned with Mercer standards
- Review plan documentation, including booklets and contracts, to ensure accuracy following carrier or plan design changes
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience.
- 3-4 years of experience in Canadian employee benefits consulting or group benefits underwriting.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and technical underwriting skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Life Licensed agent in Ontario or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire
