About the role
Key Responsibilities Include
-
Support revenue cycle accounting for all operating entities, including but not limited to:
-
Prepare revenue invoicing and related communications
-
Record and prepare journal entries for environmental attributes and deferred revenue
-
Prepare royalty accruals and related communications
-
Prepare accruals and reconciliations at period ends
-
Maintain and reconcile revenue-related accounts, including deferred revenue and accounts
-
Review customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition
-
Create invoice models for new power purchase
-
Support the quarterly and annual preparation of the standalone financial statements and notes
-
Maintain documentation for operational accounting processes and policies related to revenue processes
-
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
-
Liaising with other functional groups on accounting matters as required
-
Provide assistance to the accounting team as required
-
Upholding and promoting the Company’s core values
-
Other tasks and duties as required
Education
- Minimum post-secondary accounting education with preference given to candidates who are pursuing or have completed a Canadian accounting designation (CPA).
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of proven accounting experience in industry or public practice
- Experience in journal entry preparation is a must
- Experience with revenue and invoicing is a must
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and good understanding of financial processes
- Experience working in a complex, dynamic, and multi-entity environment
- Experience working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Personal Characteristics & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or similar accounting software
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and excellent data entry skills
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also thriving in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve
- Thrives in a rapidly changing environment, with the ability and desire to create or modify processes for new business conditions
- Ability to switch gears quickly and effectively utilize resources to get the job done
