THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead Legends Canadian tax function. This individual will be responsible for Canadian tax compliance and expected to collaborate with various business partners to support the constant growth of Legends. This position will ensure accurate, timely, and supportable tax reporting, develop strong processes to automate the tax function where possible and service as a critical team member ensuring a seamless customer experience from a tax perspective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all aspects of Canadian tax strategy and compliance inclusive of GST/HST, PST, and QST returns, elections, and remittances.
- Lead all aspects of Canadian tax strategy and compliance inclusive of Canadian federal and provincial corporate income tax returns (T2), including related schedules.
- Collaboration across various business groups to proactively identify Canadian tax requirements, registrations and implications associated with Legends growth and product offerings.
- Prepare, review and reconcile tax accruals for the accounting close
- Act as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on issues pertaining to the Company’s ongoing tax compliance requirements
- Manage tax audits, notices and disputes and be the primary contact for CRA and provincial tax authorities
- Review tax procedures and implement process improvement and automations where possible
- Assist facility level personnel, as applicable, in maintaining compliance with all regulations concerning tax reporting.
- Oversee all tax registrations and licensing requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills and Abilities
- Extensive technical knowledge of tax rules and regulations associated with GST/HST, PST, QST and Canadian federal and provincial corporate income tax returns
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
- Ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment
- Experience with tax engines and POS services (E.G. Avalara, Shopify, Square, etc)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent data analysis, accounting and journal entry skills
- Ability to function both independently and as a team member.
- 5+ Years of Canadian tax experience
- B. S. in Accounting from a four-year college or university
