NUTRITIONIST
Full Time (Permanent)
Monday to Friday – 7 hours/day
Wabasca, Alberta
The Bigstone Health Commission is seeking a competent Nutritionist to join our dedicated and talented team. The Nutritionist is key to providing nutritional guidance to clients, developing meal plans, and conducting educational workshops. This position is also the key player in ensuring the health centers’ commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement, ultimately enhancing the services provided to the community. This is a rewarding opportunity if you have a passion for enhancing Indigenous health systems, culture, and enjoy the support and collaboration from our multidisciplinary team and various other professionals and agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nutritional guidance to clients, developing meal plans, and conducting educational workshops.
Conduct nutritional assessments and develop individualized meal plans.
Educate clients (and family members) on healthy eating habits and nutritional principles.
Maintain, monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting plans and records as needed.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and be supportive of holistic client care.
Stay up to date on the latest nutrition research and best practices.
Quality Assurance, Compliance and Performance & Continuous Quality Improvement
Monitor quality, safety, and risk management practices to ensure adherence to workplans and frameworks.
Support accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance processes.
Shared performance data to drive informed decision-making.
Identify and co-develop quality improvement initiatives focused on food and nutrition services.
Mentor staff to promote a culture of performance excellence.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication, organizational skills and strong written skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
A friendly outgoing personality
Effective communicator
Multitasking ability and dedicated and reliable
Experience in community or public health nutrition is an asset
Education and Experience:
Degree in Nutrition, dietetics or related field
3-5 years’ experience
Current professional liability insurance
Proficiency in quality improvement methodologies
Skilled in data analysis and applying legislative regulatory and quality assurance frameworks
Strong interpersonal, communication, consensus building, and conflict resolution skills
Commitment to relationship-centered care and service excellence
Able to travel to BCN surrounding communities
Class 5 driver’s license
