The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to support the delivery of structural engineering services on multi-disciplinary EPC projects. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while taking ownership of assigned scopes, contributing to structural design, analysis, and project execution from concept through construction.
The role includes hands-on structural steel and reinforced concrete design, preparation of calculations and technical documentation, coordination with other disciplines, and providing field support as required.

Perform structural steel and concrete design

Preparation of technical reports and calculation packages as project deliverables.

Perform checks on other engineers' design.

Mentoring and supporting more junior engineers

Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications.

Authenticate structural engineering deliverables.

Interface with other disciplines, project management to execute work per the Project Plan.

Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Wood and its clients.

Conducting field reviews at project work sites

Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application.

Graduate or Undergraduate Engineering Degree in Engineering
-
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA
-
5 to 10 years of relevant EPC experience in structural design
-
Broad experience designing structures in Oil & Gas and Pulp & Paper projects
-
In-depth knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (Alberta Edition).
-
Strong background and experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.

Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of CSA S16 and CSA A23.3.
-
Proficiency in modeling and analysis using SAP2000, RISA 3D, and STAADPro.

Experience in design of modification to existing facilities
-
Field construction support experience.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple assignments.
-
Strong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence and technical reports.

Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.

Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Willingness to travel and accept short-term field assignments.

Motivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clients.

Loves to share knowledge, experiences, and expertise with others to assist, mentor and coach less experience members of the team in their development.
