General Job Description

This position manages all aspects of the department. As an Assistant Manager at TG MINTO CORPORATION, you are expected to carry out your assigned responsibilities in a professional manner. These responsibilities are designed to ensure that a high level of production is maintained in a safe and economical way. Your effective use of manpower and/or equipment has a direct bearing on the cost of production and therefore the final price of our products. Your responsibilities include management as well as improving safety, cost, quality, delivery and morale. You will be expected to coordinate efforts of staff to implement activities for such improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily management of any subordinate supervisory staff, guide and direct your team members on continuous improvements. Coordinate efforts of your team members in order to achieve targets. Coach your team members on a daily basis on all issues regarding production responsibilities. Use all resources available to help achieve targets. Assist other managers in the analysis of problems and aid in the establishment of countermeasures for improvements.

  • Plan, organize, and direct operations within this positions scope of control.
  • Develop and implement plans to effectively and efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production or administrative targets.
  • Adhere to departmental budget.
  • Interview, supervise and train or oversee training of employees.
  • Ensure the quality of production meets customer expectations.
  • Ensure the productive output of your team members over all three shifts.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management, including Japanese staff.
  • Lead/Participate in Cross Functional Teams for various improvement activities.
  • Conduct training as required.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for customer problems and defect reduction.
  • Manage defect reduction and Kaizen activities.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement (Kaizen) in your area.
  • Ensuring that all pertinent documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Motivates employees and assists in the resolution of conflict.
  • Evaluates employees’ performance.
  • Develop training plans; monitor training of new employees, using TG Minto procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees.
  • Meet with subordinates regularly as needed.
  • Ensure all team members are using their time effectively and providing necessary support to other team members in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing 5S & 2S1Y.
  • Responsible for meeting the departmental cost saving targets.
  • Lead / Participate in the new product launch activities.
  • Proficient in Excel, Power point and Word.

Management Responsibilities

You are responsible for providing a safe workplace for all your team members. It is your responsibility to know and understand the regulations that directly relate to your assigned responsibilities. You must also ensure that your team members know and understand the regulations that directly relate to their assigned duties and the workplace. Manage subordinate supervisors or team leaders. Plan, assign and direct work according to organizational policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities may include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and recommending corrective action for employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Keep TG Minto Executive informed of all activities within your department.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in engineering, administration, commerce or other discipline.
  • Several years experience as a supervisor or equivalent.
  • Relevant designation may be required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with dignity and respect.

Compensation Range: CAD 88,000 to 100,000 per annum
