Opportunity Overview:
Wittington is looking to strengthen and grow its global, diversified portfolio team with the addition of an Associate, Fund Investments. This investment professional will be part of a growing, entrepreneurial investment team supporting portfolio strategy as well as external manager selection across public and private markets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and contribute to all aspects of fund investments, including manager sourcing, peer analysis, due diligence, portfolio construction, and ongoing monitoring.
- Lead due diligence workstreams, performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, reviewing track records, assessing portfolio exposures, and coordinating reference checks.
- Build and manage relationships with investment managers, including market mapping, outreach, and leading diligence discussions.
- Develop and refine financial and statistical models to support investment decision making and monitoring, summarizing outputs into actionable insights.
- Draft investment recommendation memos and presentation materials for investment decision making, incorporating feedback from relevant team members.
- Contribute to portfolio strategy, including pacing analysis, liquidity planning, and monitoring exposures across asset classes and managers.
- Monitor existing fund investments through ongoing reviews, performance attribution, risk/ESG assessment, and preparation of portfolio reporting materials.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for portfolio management and be well acquainted with current industry trends.
- Lead implementation of new technologies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with the broader Wittington investment team and other departments including legal, finance, tax, and accounting as appropriate.
Required Qualifications and Behavioral Attributes:
- University degree in Statistics, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field is required. CFA and/or CAIA designation (or working towards the designation) is an asset.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in any of the following sectors: private equity, investment banking, equity research, investment consulting or equivalent role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Knowledge of economic and market data sources (Bloomberg), business intelligence tools (Power BI) and coding languages (Python) are preferred.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to apply these skills in due diligence, portfolio construction and risk measurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers and team leadership.
- Seeks continuous improvements and efficiencies in workflow.
- Highly organized and efficient, ability to work independently and manage both workload and deliverables.
